nearly new shogun, auto or manual?

I've started on the hunt for a nearly new swb Shogun commercial 4x4 and I'm torn between a manual or automatic, had a drive of a 14 plate auto at the weekend and definitely liked it but should I be ruling out a manual as that's what I've always had?
Are the manuals geared too high for pulling away when towing? And are the autos not as good as the impression I got?

New they are, but the ones I've been looking at are 12 plate onwards at the moment, so manual and auto

I have a 08 Manual and mate has a 08 auto and it's a pig on fuel. After 10 plate they changed slightly and they were all a bit better on fuel

Im a big fan of manual, I find it gives you greater control in sticky conditions

I find the opposite in muddy going, auto is smoother to gently pull away without riding clutch

Having now got an auto pick up id never go back to manuel.so easy to pull away with a load

auto, modern high powered (more high torque) dervs are to harsh on clutches auto box delivers it smoother. Ive driven both (all be it 2012) and the auto was much nicer
