Need advice for replacing cutting deck belt on 2009 Westwood T1600 ride-on mower

Hello, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm new here, posting to look for some advice...

I'm trying to replace the cutting deck belt on a Westwood T1600 2009 ride-on lawnmower. I cannot get the belt guard off to get to the cutting deck pulleys to install the new belt as the guard is a single piece of plastic and can't be removed until the pulley connecting the deck to the engine drive is removed (see photo). I cannot for the life of me get the nut on top of this pulley (red arrow on photo) loosened - I've tried (while using a gripper to stop the spindle turning) until I thought I was going to burst a blood vessel...

How do I remove the belt guard? Any advice very gratefully received

It's not left hand thread. It shouldn't do but it needs an impact gun on it to loosen it.It should also be a 10.9 HT bolt instead of an 8.8,so it has been replaced before and may have threadlock on it.

I think when I had the same problem with my Countax I jammed a piece of wood between the blade it’s attached to and the cutter deck. However I think an impact driver would also do the job.
