Negative earth

Hi,

I am looking to swop the dynamo for an alternator but I need to swop from a positive earth to a negative earth.

Is it as simple as switching over the battery terminals (I know I will need longer cables etc) but in principle is it this easy?

Also daft question but as I have a 12v battery guess I have a 12v system

Thanks

If this is on your 35X then things do need some alteration, Different ignition switch, charge warning light adding and as above control box.

In fact Fergies one of the harder ones because they used gauges rather than warning lights.

Thanks, I got a kit from arguline and it had a new wiring loom, ignition, warning light etc .

As you say its not ideal as the old amp gauge is no longer used, but otherwise it seemed pretty straight forward to convert.

In that case you can replace the ammeter with a voltmeter, wire one side to earth and the positive side to the ignition switch accesories terminal (No 2 ).
