As thread title says, Can neospora survive in clamped silage? Been offered mowing grass right on edge of town, footpath up the side of the it but both times been to look at it have been walkers letting their dogs run all over the field.

Cases I’ve seen came to light in February/March in cows housed from previous October so I would say yes

Surely your farming neighbours country dwelling collie who eats cleansing and dead lambs and occasionally saunters through your mowing grass is more of a risk than a poodle from a flat next to Aldi?
When I experienced it was off cattle grazing near a B and B that takes dogs.

took some grass keep, house next door to it, was a dog business, they bred them, they trained them, they rehomed them and they bb'ed them, the acre or so next to them, you could smell the dog sh!t as you mowed it, cut that bit last, baled it, unturned, and dumped the bales, mind you, the owner knocked an acre of the price, + another acre for 'tidying' it up! bought a big bunch of out of syn cows from surrey, of an estate with a park, lovely cows, but out of the 31, 7 aborted, neospora. we all learn

Some may have been out of synch due to previous abortions! Always test before buying, but can only test late pregnancy. As someone else has pointed out, dogs will only carry neospora if they have ingested infected foetal material and they then only shed in their faeces for a few weeks. A new farm dog or dogs passing through fields with calving cows the most likely source. But yes, I think can survive silage.

Can neospora be passed from a service bull?
No, if I recall correctly. It's in utero, dog muck or afterbirth/fetal remains. Clean the latter three up as much as possible, culling carrier cows will help, but will not clear it on it's own is what I have been told

Will you help clear snow?
