You wont save any money going outside feeding. I have been there. The roof area is the same - you need an overhang which if added together = centre feed passage.

We have an overhang 2.5m long and 4m high. The rain and snow blows 30ft into shed. When TB testing in yokes down outside......in horizontal rain......both me and the vet agreed......a nice dry centre feed passage would have been better.

Birds.....you are stuffed on outside feeding.....at least feeding inside you can bird proof like Worthy farm if you had too.

If your going for 12 deg roof, then 1 panel along the sides and then very spaced out Yorkshire boarding to get your ventilation, but keep weather away from cubicles - basic side cladding wont break the bank.

Really you want no side cladding ....go dutch......go with an eves height of only 2.5m......put cubilces right on the edge no problem....give the cows a nice view ...... then 22.5 deg roof pitch and you have a million miles of height in the middle for your tractor / feeder wagon......perfect steep roof ........ ventilation through an open ridge with middle of feed passage for rain to fall on.
What do you put in front on the cubicle on the Dutch design? Or is it just a low panel to keep the bedding contained?

Definitely go for yokes and 22 degree pitch (y)

Might not work for you but, a big cow shed i seen on dartmoor had a flush system for cleaning passages,
helped by having a leat running acros the top end of shed.
seen one in france that pumped dirty water to a big tank to top for flushing twice a day.
both units were spotless

Looks good, how far do the purlins project from the gable, we did our last shed like this but told 3' was the maximum they could extend

Prey tell me what is the reason for the gable overhang , for looks or is there a more functional aspect to it looks like a waste of money to me .Shed could have been a good few feet longer

Purely for looks. I don't think it's a waste of money, it sets the building off, same with the steeper pitch.

I have a 6 row cubicle shed with centre feed passage. Building is 120ft wide, would not go any less. By putting a 2 rows of intermediate support posts in enabled steel size to be reduced and saved 10 k on shed cost. The shed is 180ft long and holds 250 cows. It has 1 m overhangs and curtain sides. I choose the blow up air bag type but if doing it again I would spend the extra on the Gale breaker type wind up ones.
You are welcome to come and look as I am North debyshire.
