Looking for a new spreader to spread p&k, nitrogen, sulphur ect at 18m over 500acres,
We have dealers local for the above makes, not interested in gps on/off ect but would like weigh cells and be able to vary forward speed.
Must have the capacity to hold 2400kg, be easy to set up, accurate and not rot away in 10 years!

If your going as far as weigh cells & vari forward speed etc your pretty much at the next stage which is all controlled by GPS & thats one thing i must say is a big plus point
on/off at the ends at the right time is worth having, plus at this level then come with various versions of sectional control
now we can all be skeptical how accurate that actually is but even so watching the screen show it narrow in or widen out in/out of butts is very clever.
My KV all singing & dancing Geo Spread does all of the above & also Vari Rate with maps the lot. thats equally as impressive too see working.
its not cheap but once your there your there.
6th season with mine & no Rust
No saying its perfect various electric gremlins & had to rep one gearbox as the oil seals are nearly half the price of it.
But by heck its accurate & the GPS side of things is all FREE no subs if you see what i mean.
But whats more annoying is the increased price of all this equipment since i got mine, id say this complete with its split screen will be over £20k now
If you tractor is Isobus you could plug it into that of course.
Good luck

Do they go wrong?
Water, fertiliser and electrics don’t always go well together!
My kv will be coming up into its 5th season and the only electrical issue it’s had was a weigh cell that hadn’t been sealed properly from the factory. It was replaced under warranty so no cost to me.
I’m just waiting on a price to swap it for the bigger model in the new year, I can’t decide whether to stick with the kv screen or just use my jd screens on the iso bus though. It will probably come down to price to swap but after running through the jd screen for 50% of last season I’m starting to wonder whether the additional split screen is warranted, it is handy for saving spreader settings though.

500 acres of arable or a mix with grassland?

I'm only arable now so went for the most basic vicon I could , fixed speed but it's a quick job in arable but if I was going over any rough poached grassland , I'd want variable speed

Just been through the same. Narrowed down to a vicon and Kuhn due to personal preference. Went for the vicon edw, linked to isobus so no need to buy a screen. Both quotes were for the same but vicon price to change was bit keener.

Yes 500 at 18m all arable
500 total or 3/4 passes? Also are you considering going wider in the future 24m+? All things to consider when specking a machine.
When you consider the amount of product you’ll put through a spreader it’s worth considering section control and auto on/off. After all you wouldn’t spec a sprayer without sections or section control, fert spreader will possibly have more value of product through it in a year!

We bought a kuhn last year. No weigh cells or section control. But vary forward speed.

Pleased with it, had a kuhn previously so wasn't a difficult choice what to buy next. Priced a kv but they don't do a non weigh cell machine with vari rate. Cost was a fair bit more.

Haven't been any days I wished I had weigh cells.

500, 3 or 4 times
May go wider one day but fertiliser spreaders it’s an easy option to change discs where as the sprayer would need a bigger tractor.
