Hi all anyone running one of these are they a good baler thinking about having a change/upgrade to one one I've seen for sale has a superfeed rotor in do these feed well or better than the older finger types anything to really look for on them? Cheers
So if looked after and not abused would be a decent enough baler we only run straw walker combines so most of the time hopefully wouldn't be too much of an issue is there any other balers worth a look at in the up to 5k mark not a deere fan been there done thatGenerally a decent enough baler. Not the heaviest of build so check all chains and sprockets carefully for signs of wear. All bearings are externally greasable which is good as well and net wrap system works a treat.
Only real issue was the rotor is a bit small and too far back. In some straw crops (mainly smashed up rotary wheat straw) forward progress can be steady. This is because the crop is picked up but can “stall” before the rotor gets hold of it. The only solution is to go slower.
In barley straw, hay and silage they will keep up with anything comparable from that era.
Yes there not a bad baler. Not sure what else to suggest in that price bracket to be honest. So if looked after and not abused would be a decent enough baler we only run straw walker combines so most of the time hopefully wouldn't be too much of an issue is there any other balers worth a look at in the up to 5k mark not a deere fan been there done that
Mines a 640 that would potentially be getting replaced is it much faster than the old 640 mines been a cracking baler just showing it's age now and has a few gremlinsI bought one this year replaced a 640, makes great bale. The rotor works well in haylage anyway.
