The viscous fan seems to be engaged all the time on our TM155
Is there any sensors i can check or will it be the viscous fan its self
We have another TM we could swap sensors with

Our TM140 is engaged all the time. Was told by mechanic that the idea is crap and it's better to retro fit the old style. He told me to carry on - fuel usage is higher tho ?

The wires had rubbed through on the inside of the conduit from the main harness down to the viscous unit on mine. Take the top rad hose off and slacken the radiator mounting bolts to lean it forward - saves the skin on your knuckles when fiddling with the connector.

I will have a look and see if any wires have rubbed through

Yes big increases in diesel consumption wen fan is engaged full time.95% chance your problem is the short loom from front of engine down to the fan hub.and yes a fan hub from from the older type will work too...

I assumed there would be some sensors
There will be, electric is an electric clutch, viscous is a gunge in the hub that locks up when hot, out of interest what does the gauge say, but guessing it will be a different sensor to switch it on, possibly its always locked up unless it gets power from a switch... have a look in the fuse /relay list in the book.
