New machine quotation

I have just had 2 prices for a new machine both same specification
One price was done with the dealer sat in the kitchen working through options to come to the retail price then discounting it down on a price of paper in front of me the other was worked out by salesman that got the spec by phone and came back to me with an official written quote
Price is not the thing that bugged me but the small print attached to the written quotation or second one it had every scenario from war to act of god excluded and in short it said they could alter the price up-to day of delivery while we all say written is best to avoid all doubt but in this instance all it did was create doubt on the integrity of the supplier has any one else found this or just in general ignored it and gone on with the deal

On a serious note , machinery JD for so bloody complicated and expensive. Machines are ordered specifically for a customer so any mistake has to be paid for by someone ..

I agree that yes there are so many configurations but the written contract while I agree that this is the proper way to do things it just put me off completely as one clause said they could change the price right up to day of payment so they want me to order a machine 130k with 6 weeks delivery min and they can change the price at any time not a good deal maker what does any one else think

Yes that probably is what concerns them but yet I’m pricing a 5 year contract and building in fuel rises and inflation etc etc to try and gain business but dealer seams to want to price excluding all variables leaving the customer at risk from volatility

I just thought I better ask him to re price it again tomorrow as the £/$ has gained strength so could have knocked a grand or 2 off the price he 5% above the next man so I don’t think his contract will ever become a problem whatever it actually says lol
