new mower with no conditioner

I see a good few new 3m mounted mowers being sold with no conditioners , I have started to spread and rake the grass , so do I need a conditioner any more , will a 3m mower with no conditioner be lighter and easier to run , if it leaves the grass almost full width to wilt and then I rake it will it be as good as doing it with the conditioner.

I've always run a straight mower then tedded, mowers with conditioners around here seem to go round the field like snails.

(Hello james :) )

A conditioner will nearly always save you a day when making hay
What I found last summer was that grass mowed with no conditioner and left full width dried quicker than grass mowed with a conditioner and left in a narrow sward , grass left full width also let the rain through and dried quicker than if it was left in narrow conditioned swards, I also thought that grass raked from full width swards raked better than from narrow swards.

so why not use your conditioner full on with full width spread?

Tbh if we have another catchy season can you afford a ru across the field and tramp it up with muck?

With the vicon the vanes can be flicked out and out of work position as well as give you a full width conditioner.
