New pick up

Evening all not sure if right place to post but here goes!
I'm due a new company truck, we get a choice between Hilux and Ranger, there's a few different variants to choose from but all Ranger or Hilux available to us on the list will cost about the same out of my wages each month. I was set on a Hilux invincible or icon however the Ranger Tremor Is now on the list and I am pretty tempted. Does anyone own a tremor or had a go in one just after an opinion on them.

I was going to say the Ranger is probably the better drive out of the two if someone else is paying for it but then you mentioned your wages so now I'm confused.
I take it you actually need a pickup? I only ask as I know a couple of people who have a work/company vehicle, and a pickup is just one of the choices.

Basically it's seen as a benefit in kind because we can use it outside of work as well, tax man decides what it's worth as a benefit a year take tax off that figure then that's what I pay each month for the privilege 😅 however they tax, insure and repair it and I get a replacement if it breaks down and a nice shiny new one after 6 years.
I do need a truck for work and also handy to be able use at home so I don't have to fork out for my own which would cost me considerably more. should of said will do a fair few road miles as well as all the usual towing etc. which is why I'm leaning more toward the Tremor as it's an auto and Better specced than the Hilux as the auto option only available from our list in Icon range and not the invincible.

For any pickup question the Ford Ranger Wildtrak is the answer. I’m biased I know as I have one but when you look about there’s an awful lot of them on the roads and for good reason.

I tend to agree based only on what I hear but I would question how many on the road actually go off road

I see, in that case I’d go ford👍
I’d probably have the Toyota if I was paying or even take a punt on one of the cheaper brands. As I type this I can see a blinged up LDV across the street. Looks good wonder how much cheaper they are🤷‍♂️

LDV is a no no, yes there's lots of Ranger's and a few horror stories with the 3.2 and the 6 speed auto.
Very rare to see a Ranger off road and quite a few are only 2WD.
Hilux is quite expensive and I believe we get a better D Max here than in the UK.
Be interesting to see the new Triton too.
Ford F150,Rams and Chevrolet's are fecking expensive.
Ultimately do you really need a ute or 4WD or is there something else more suitable?

Nah I don’t need one just playing the what would I have game👍
Seeing more big Chevvy’s and Ram’s around here. A lot of the cheaper ones too. Mate has had an LDV for a while don’t think it’s too bad and he could bend an anvil😱
Yep we get the Isuzu with the 3 litre. Getting lots of them round too, don’t see the Mazda version that often.
Not a Ford guy but I’d have one if someone else was paying. Mrs KP had the choice of one when she had a new work car but had a Santa Fe instead👍

LDV is Maxus here I think but no pickup (ute) yet. Chinese owned which has to be better than LDV or Leyland Daf Vehicles.

I’ve ordered a Ranger Tremor after cancelling on the Hilux Icon. Serious spec on the tremor, and the most capable off road with upgraded shocks, tracking, ride height etc. Yet still with the important 1 ton payload for VAT purposes. I ended up getting the last stock order from my local dealer which they ordered back in April, they’re hoping it will be with me by next April…

Do you need high spec? If you want to save on bik and can manage without gizmos the bik is calculated off book value and emissions, you could keep more in your own pocket by going basic spec and buying accessories separately to pick up.

All commercial vehicles are the same BIK, doesn't matter what the spec is. They are fixed rate so doesn't matter if you have a Ford Fiesta Van or a Fully specced Wildtrack you will pay the same.

I thought the tremor was a basic model? I know it’s got better suspension and other stuff but I was told it’s a lot more basic than my current limited model so that put me off.

The XLT is new version of your limited model. The tremor is suppose to sit between the Wildtrack and XLT as an aggressive off roader option. But has 10- speed auto box, electric windows, driver assist package, heated steering wheel and seats (£150 extra), blistein suspension, metal guarding underneath etc. I think the main difference is the wild track sits lower/ narrower, less beefy suspension, but has a higher payload, leather seats other sporty bits and bobs. The tremor looks cooler IMO, not that that matters

It doesn’t have an electric seat though! I’m looking to change my truck as it’s four years old now and am looking towards a tremor. Does anyone know what sort of money they are? And if they come with the v6 engine.
