New pick up

If I were designing it, the motor/generator would probably replace the torque convertor. Is that how they do it? For the mild hybrids, I don’t see any significant improvement in economy figures, certainly not compared to some rival vehicles that would suit most of the same customers.
I'm not sure on the exact tie-in for the electric motor.
Like you say, not a noticeable improvement in overall economy, but they do allow a significant pure electric range (one of the very best I believe), and they allow huge and instantaneously responsive performance for such massive vehicles.

You would think they could do something like vario where the electric motor drives the annulus gear in place of a hydro motor
You don’t need any fixed or variable ratio gearbox with a fully electric vehicle, apart from the final drive, at least in theory. This is because of the rev range of motors plus the fact that they are similar to steam engines in that they can produce maximum torque from zero revs.

Sold my 2016 ranger as having gearbox/electric issue's. Got a new hilux invincible x early march. Bought it purely for reliability and a few grand cheaper. Its no where near as nice to drive, heavy steering, huge turning circle, rougher ride. Certainly isnt as well finished inside. Stupid things, if the wipers are on auto and u switch it off then surly the wipers can finish.... i hope its more reliable and it might grow on me yet.

Thank goodness for you, even if you could find such a car, you are not forced to buy it.
Dude's saying his pickup drives like a car, I want to know which car drives like a pickup. It might have fancy seats, air conditioning, alooy wheels and a nice radio, but it won't drive like a car. Can you imagine head of new cars at BMW going to his boss and proudly presenting him with the new 3 series and saying how it drives like a f**king Hilux? It's be taken into a locked room, quietly shot in the back of the head and his corspe buried in remote woodland.
