New sprayer new nozzles

Changing the sprayer to a new to me machine. It’s got twin lines. Pre-emergence stuff will be 300l/ha on one line so which nozzles for that? And the other line which will be used more often would be at 150l average but fluctuate between 120l and upto 200l. I like spraying around 10km/hr maybe 12km/hr sometimes? Any views? I’m a bit out of date nozzle wise as we stuck with flat fans but are there variable rate nozzles now?

I'd have Billericay Bubble Jets, 04 red, and 03.blue.

Insist on ultra low drift BFS ExRay XC nozzles to ensure all your pesticide reaches the crop and goes no further. The ExRay XC will allow you to achieve more spraying days when a conventional nozzle would be too drifty to use.

Flat fans and Guardian Airs, one set on each line, both 150l/ha at around 12km/h. If I want 300 l/ha for pre em I just turn on both lines.

Oherwise flat fans for good spraying conditions, guardian airs when it’s a bit catchy or if Im spraying near a house

Guardian Air blues and reds here. Blues used usually at between 12 to 13 kph at 100 lts/hc and 3 bar (the recommended pressure).
Switch to the reds with 150 lts/hc or more, not often!
Also have the option of Defy blues and reds but this season hasn't seen much use from them as yet!

They’re just so drifty tho!? I used to have to spray beet with flat fans and even on a still day the mist would be floating across a few tramlines. The LD flat fans were slightly better but they were/aren’t available as an 01 if you wanted to get down to 100 l/ha

Guardian Airs use for everything, gives a much wider weather window than flat fans.

Less prone to blockages than flat fans too, flat fans have an elliptical orifice, the Guardians airs circular.

I find guardian airs very good in less ideal conditions keep your pressure and speed down, still get good results.

Over the years I’ve gravitated to 05 flat fans (XR teejet 110 vp) They’ll give good coverage from 1 to 4 barg depending on what spray quality and volume you want. I usually apply at 2 barg 190 litre 10 kph. Yes indeed all the air bubble stuff is probably lower drift but coverage isn’t as good and arguably my drift is just as good when I’m down at 1 barg going slower. I’d rather run a flat fan at low pressure than mess about with bubble jets and air inclusion. I went back to flat fans after a few very poor performances with herbicide and fungicide with bubble jets. It’s no accident that BG took hold when people started with low drift technology in my view. You just can’t hit small targets.
