New (to me) handler delivered with wrong/damage pipes. What would you do!?

Took delivery of my new to me Kramer 8095t last week. The machine is 2.5 years old with 1400hrs on the clock. I'm not going to name the dealer at this point but they are 500 miles away from me and I did buy the machine unseen.

The machine is a beauty except for 2 hydraulic pipes on the side of the boom/headstock. They should both be metal pipes but both have been replace with rubber pipes and one is badly damaged to the point it looks like it will blow out soon. Both pipes do not fit into the fixings and are kept on with zip ties. The machine supposedly went through the workshop before delivery as part of the deal. I know I didn't see the machine before purchase but I feel it's pretty poor on a nearly £40k machine. I've sent pictures to the sales rep but not had a response.

The correct metal pipes are £49 each so I've ordered them myself as I'm worried the damaged pipe will blow. Would you kick up a fuss with the dealer or just replace the pipes as leave it go?

Personally if that was the only thing I could find wrong with a £40k machine I'd bought sight unseen, then I'd consider I'd pulled off a blinder..............

Yeah have a habit of doing it and never go to far wrong. Was from a big main dealer so you would expect a 1400hr machine to be ok.

Yes photos and a video but missed the problem. My bad.

Would of cost me alot than the cost of the pipes to travel to see it so guess I've done ok then.

Salesman might never have spotted that or even care. Pipes like that, exposed as they are basically a sacrificial wear item, changing them now will solve any potential headaches in future.

Main dealer doesn't count for anything.

I think the usual terms would be "Good working order, fair wear and tear excepted". So, even if the wrong pipes, they do work and the wear is debatable. Is it "fair"? Unless you could produce expert witnesseses to say the pipes were dangerous, I think you've had it! Buying second hand, assume the seller is selling for a reason and be prepared to have to put it right?

Bit late now, but I'd have looked for a discount on the new pipes. No reason why they should make a profit on them!

Stick some new pipes on, the dealer might help you out if you out a little, then keep the old ones as spares for when they blow in a few years time.

Ha ha it came from a very large multi depot dealer, the sort that are owned by the major brand they sell.

i think its pretty lazy not to replace them with the proper ones? , i would not be impressed.

Yes, poor show from dealer but you ve let him know and maybe they will pay for metal pipes or make a contribution. If not, well as long as everything else is good, just put it down to experience and remember to examine photos better next time !

but I am not brave enough to buy a 2nd hand machine for that sort of money, having only looked at the salespersons photo's, cows, on the other hand...………..we do buy some lots unseen!

If they are a dealer for said machine they would know that the pipes are incorrect and the price of them. I doubt they did a lot else to this machine except give it a good power wash and perhaps an oil and filter change. I think it’s a bit poor that they let it go out like this.

Perfect summary to how I feel. I'm actually really pleased with the machine, it's just this small detail that has left me a little bitter.
