New toy day

Some are deluded. 77/7810 were horrible bloody things even when near new.

Spent many hours on these. Were ok at the time but we didn't know any better. Coming from 7250 Magnum or CS 150 the cabin felt like a nice place to spend the day but later had a pyramid cab CVX and then Puma (complete with cab and axle suspension) to drive and it was a revelation and I'd not have gone back to the JD. Early autopowr JDs seemed popular at the time given crow-bar shift auto/quad powershift from JD or the He-man gearbox off a magnum.

Can’t say I’ve ever really understood the extreme love for them some people have. But then I’ve been brought up red & was young & impressionable when the case maxxums & mx’s were out.
I’d quite happily spend a day sat in an MX just listening to the Cummins barking away.
I must say i have great affection for the maxum 5130 I have had one for the last thirty-two years and still have one it must be twenty twenty-seven these days it's on light duty hedge topper and post knocker it has cost nothing in repairs only a couple of track rod ends and a few batteries in her youth she was plowing with a four furrow reversible auto reset, the heavy one and a four-meter power harrow in the summers she would cart grass in eighteen-tonne silage trailers

Mine is coming up to 29 years and does all my spraying and raking these days. Did everything in first 12 years . Both motor and gearbox never been touched.

At the time I guess they were ok ish. The 7810 I was driving had hydraulic issues and was forever overheating the hydraulic oil. So much so it only stayed a few months and went to Cambridge. The guy that owned it was ex jd mechanic and it spend a fair amount of time at Ben burgesses too. Didn’t put too much confidence in the product. We also had 2 Fendt on the bale chasers that year and they were a revelation compared to the jd.

They were just so blòody rough

Whats wrong with them? Does the ivt give trouble in the 7020 series?
They can do, depending on the age they had a problem with the gear that drives the hydro pump popping the clip of the shaft that holds it in place. The gear then slip up against the housing and starts machining its way through the hydro pump housing filling the transmission the filings. It’s a case of a complete new hydro unit to repair it. Had issues with the range clutch/brake plates burning out as well. These issues were both resolved in the 7030 ivt transaction though, just a shame about the engine.

I ordered new spreader today, supporting the turkish community.

FYI i paid for it by selling part of devon and all of cornwall for carbon credits to the Saudis...cant wait to do the abu dhabi f1.

I had to resort to this as we have no subsidies in Australia.

Pick up next friday.

Sprayer is next.

Keep it very clean. The paint work is not good on them. I’d imagine if clean and oiled they would stay looking tidy for longer.
