How long do you think the mite powder will last in a multi tier system? We need to try and do something different at turnaround this time relying on exzolt is no good
It’s a silica powder that comes from a company called Van Eck in Holland, they will come over and apply it for you. It’s got something in it which helps it stick better than normal diatomaceous earth and they won’t say what it is 😂.

In our other shed we used it from new and didn’t have to treat for red mite at all in the first 5 flocks. Unfortunately they’ve got a foothold now and we had to use exolt at about 58 weeks which got us through.

It definitely helps.

Don’t take any notice at all. I have a neighbour who ran a freelander 2 and never did service it 😂 he’s only recently let it go due to corrosion. There’s a happy medium to be had. I wait for the light to come on and then just do it as like you say; manufacturer ought to know best. Maybe 50 years ago when oils were pretty poor it would have been a different story.

Mind there is a world of difference between 10,000 miles of stop-start and crawling in traffic and a guy who drives 40 miles on major roads to work and back daily.

I think if you do your home work you will find many brabds of engines blowing up, or needing timing chains replaced that were meant to be life of engine design.

All right if buying new and then flicking it, but overall engine life will be compromised.

Ant....

A guy at work has a modernised (I think) Honda on road tyres. I lust at it every day I walk past it.
I have lusted after one of these since they had red frames and the chain on the wrong side, this is an awesome bike to ride.

Injected 300 2 strokes are like being shot about the landscape with a giant rubber band

I've done 197km on it just today, just on our farm

On our biogas CHP (6 cyl MAN) we have been able to go from 1000 hours change with Mobil Pegasus 610 oil, only just getting by, to 1350 hours on Petro Canada Syntron CG40 (a cheaper oil!), which has paid off the cost of sampling. I think we might go further, but that pushes the interval on the other things done at the same time.
Using an extended sump rather than the original sump initially increased the interval from 500 to 1000 hours.
The CHPs I look after are on 2000hr intervals
