New toy day

You must have a hen or two…there’s a few omelettes worth of eggs there 😳 How long is it running like that for a day?
64k hens. Theoretically a bit under two hours, but in reality the two staff will be moving pallets, walking the hens etc through the morning. Would hope to have eggs packed and all the sheds walked and basic stockmanship tasks done in 4 hours with 2 people when we’ve fully got to grips with it.

Never been on a deere that didn't bounce and hop. Even with ils and 30 bazillion grease nipples to keep it working 🙄. Test drove a 7k hr 8r recently that should have gotten me an award for staying in the seat for 8 seconds 😆
I mentioned the hours because we have fendts with similar hours and same suspension setup minus grease nipples that actually work and are a pleasure to operate

They cannot put power to the ground without bouncing. Sandy soil, all sorts of tyre combinations, different pressures and different weight setup, made no difference. Just constantly bouncing.

never had an issue with suspended front axle tractors.

Agreed found the same when I spent some time driving a 8410. Still liked it though especially the noise on a cold start 😍

There was me thinking you were a wuss and were claiming the lack of suspension led them to being bouncy on the road, which they certainly are Front suspension cured that.

However in the field the suspension isn't needed, just a active seat from a comfort point of view far better than the suspension. The cab noise is more of a problem.

It's a shame they aren't hated by more people, they wouldn't be so sought after then maybe able to find a 20 series too

You get 'power hop' with no front suspension.

JD explain it well here:

Dunno to be honest. They just seem to be less strangled than they are now . But it's also job dependant the older ones have more low down power newer ones need more revs to get power so revs usually equal wheel slip when going gets tricky.

I was ploughing a wet bit the other day and needed lots of momentum to get through a soft patch the old 185 hp tractor went up another gear and got going about 14k going into it and dragged it through at speed. My 220 hp vario honestly wouldn't muster up 10k going into it and would give up halfway through
we have a 7820 i agree its suspension is not as good as the newer ones but when it comes to power it just keeps giving whereas the newer ones with their tier 3 engine and ad blue give in if you lose a few revs in a bit of stiff ground it seem that all modern tractors are the same we also have an old maxum and you could put her at a bit of stiff going from flat out she would drop down to 1000 rpm and climb back up the r series J D if it drops 200rpm it gives up

Funny the worst I’ve ever used for dropping off a cliff at low rpm was a 6810 Deere. On a spud harvester it was pathetic. New holland tm would walk past it every day

Nice little resto project there. New hydraulic line, clean, prep and pain and two half decent sized wheels and she'd be golden.
