New tractor delivery dates

It’s the equivalent of a 8050/60. It has a cab with aircon I actually think there would be a demand for similar in the UK for people with smaller areas of corn. My son who spent the summer with Claas isn’t so keen so I asked him what we could get for similar money. We can get a Lexion 580 but it will have done a lot of hours, is very big for our system and will be at an age where things can go wrong that we can’t fix easily but it will be very nice to drive and as long as it’s running will eat the crop but when it’s not my New Holland will be pottering up and down the field. People are shocked that here we just buy the tractor that’s available. Why haven’t we specced wider mudguards or mirrors etc but the complexity and diversity of modern machinery is what is causing supply issues as well as adding to prices. It might be better at present for manufacturers to say if you want a tractor quickly this is what we have take it or leave. Difficult times call for different measures.
Thats how russia and america won ww2 by banging out cheap basic tanks aircraft and ships in huge numbers, while the germans spent too much effort on over complicated stuff that never had any real impact.

If UK people wanted basic tractors, why do they replace them so often?
a basic tractor could have a full overhaul and easily do 20K hours, but for some reason, UK people like to change stuff (same with cars and trucks)
I watch some you tube videos from the US where kit is much older, and overhauled completely when needed.

A small number of people would buy these basic meachines (remember, emissions are legislative so you cnat not do that) but i suspect the numbers would not make it worthwhile as the majority want new shiny stuff. (or keep what they have)

That horse has bolted.

The UK has always demanded high-spec, however many services that are available are never used.

The EU manufacturers are now geared up to meet that demand, and to change is not easy.

There is a degree of vanity in a new tractor, it has the ' look at me' appeal to some who are that way inclined.

The more people who drive their own tractors the smarter they get. We had a chap from Scotland visit several years ago who told us his tractor driver had left because of back problems so he was not going to replace him but he'd decided to change his MF 390 for a Fendt.

Deere rep told me two weeks ago that a order that day would be august delivery, think he was trying to get a sale as he’d knocked 4 months off the original delivery date if I’d ordered one and I thought things had got worse not better

Our local Deere rep was in yesterday and for the stockman size tractors he said there was no problem with delivery.

It wouldn't though, at least not in the UK, such tractors do exist now if you're prepared to order them like that. JD for example still do the basic auto quad (I think). You don't have to order 50K, suspension, GPS, LED lights electric spools, big hydraulic pumps, fancy seats, or even in some markets a cab but people do. Massey's "Global Range" are a no frills basic tractor, how many do you see in the UK compared to their more complicated ranges?
People say they want basic and simple but they really don't.
The engines will be emissions compliant and over complicated but they'll also be fairly fuel efficient for work done.
Massey global range are Chinese and have poor reliability that's why there's not many about. If they could import banner lane machines through a time machine they would absolutely sell boat loads of then.

Only if Banner Lane wasn't on strike.
In it's latter years was an incredibly productive and efficient workforce, just chronically underinvested and under a govt that couldn't give a flying fart if we lost all our industry. Easier to shut the UK plant as get the french wound up, you ever see the bother Goodyear had shutting the St Amiens tractor tyre plant?
