Have I started something here… 👀😝

so what your saying is then you got £24,000 for a tractor with 10,000 / 5 year old machine? With £10,000 worth of repairs in that time?
So really then Your PX was only worth £14,000?

let’s break it down; your cost to change out a 10,000 hour machine was £64,000… it’s cost you that much to have on farm for the last 5 years. £6.40 per hour. Then this £10,000 repair bill, your up to £7.40 per hour. What’s servicing going to cost? 1.50 ish per hour? Your up to £8.90 cost of ownership per clock hour.
That sound about right?

We bought a tm 120 in 2006 for roughly 28,000 including a new loader, sold it in 2019 for 22,000 with over 10,000 hours on the clock we had spent less than £1200 quid on parts, all servicing and fitting of parts done by us, it was replaced by a T5.120 that was iirc about £44,000 including brackets, we went four pot for manoeuvrability in small horse yards. Pretty cheap ownership

For my figures, being that I’ve managed to get someone to create a new thread all on my comments. Trading a 6150r up to a 6155r cost me £9.95 per clock hour and trading from a 716 in to a 718 cost £10.80.
Traded in around 5 years old with around 3500/4000 hours, under warranty so no unexpected bills, no tyres needed….

but aghhhh John Deere are so expensive. But it cost me an extra pound per clock hour..?

You think JD are dear. Priced ( enquiredis more the point) About new MF 265 self propelled mower. 500k. or I could buy the guys trade when it came in. 2 year old, 1200hrs . 240k. Now I had it in my head these things used to be ball park 350k. And I'd imagine the dealer probably gave him 200k as a trade price. So it's lost 150k over 2 years and cost another 150k to replace...If it were me I'd have run it till it stopped at that.

Obviously a MF265 is different in Oz to here. I have a picture in my mind and it’s not a £500k machine 🤣🤣🤣

I'm going to write the words 'cost to change' because I just know that every time that phrase is mentioned Clive gets a very loud notification come up on his phone. He'll be on in a minute, you wait and see.
Cost of ownership my friend, not to change

I suspect my tractor costs are higher than a lot as we have 2 relatively large and modern tractors here that were expensive to buy but actually do very few hours a year. But due to the nature of our farming system there required so gotta pay for them.
