new tractor

I went to a Case open day at a dealer and then a New Holland similar event. I found it the other way around. The creamy colour interior of the Case just seemed a nicer place to be to me than the blue/grey of the New Holland. I think it is more down to personal preference. It just felt more cozy. Both dealers have been excellent to us, so had a new Farmall delivered a few weeks ago. It probably also comes down to whether you've been brought up blue or red too. I suspect it would be a hard sell to get my father into a blue tractor, likewise I have pretty negative pre-conceptions about the green ones.

How you liking you farmall.
What model.

I’ve got new 105c in dealers yard waiting for the loader to arrive. Hopefully this week.

i was told that a case is just a more delux version of new holland.
must say i dont see it
They're both the same, only main differences are the armrest and dashboard. I drove a Maxxum 135 Cvx and an equivalent Nh (T6.165?) last summer. Now we own a Maxxum. It simply came down to a better armrest and more storage space (as the dashboard is relocated into the A pillar and there is a large cold storage replacing it). Price was exactly the same, spec was exactly the same and the dealer was same.

Well it hasn't got 20 hours on it yet so too early to pass proper judgement. 105C here too, and so far, I love it for making every gateway seem like it just grew wider by a couple of meters. Around the yard and backing trailers or getting down tight turns is a doddle. Brilliant with the cattle trailer. Had it on the generator during a power cut and it was just purring and wasn't using 5 litre/hour fuel. My dad has used it on the saw bench a bit and from in the house you can't tell it is running, while the other tractors you can hear pottering about from the far side of the farm. It's no heavy draught power house, but it should be absolutely perfect here for everything but the slurry tanker (2000G) and the big plough. Even then, it would probably handle the tanker, especially if just moving muck around the yard, but we have a bigger tractor that has a bit more weight for that sort of work.

It will work with the tanker on, had one on our 105 and it was grand (y)
Did you spec the HD front axle?

Not specifically the new HD model, but the spec sheet said heavy duty axles. I think they do an even heavier and wider HD spec but we didn't want a loader on it and wanted a lighter tractor that was more manoeuvrable... to fit down the maize rows with the sprayer, and turn on a sixpence with the rowing-up machine. It arrived the week after we finished our 4th cut, so haven't been able to confirm that though... but the way it makes the yard feel so much bigger it should also make headlands feel so much wider too.

Ah my apologies, I was thinking it had a loader on it. What size of tyres did you choose?

Thanks
I think I’ll be opposite you as it will feel huge around my yard as I’m stepping up from a little old universal tractor. (y)
Orders ours with hd axels as you could spec that especially with having the loader too
Trelborg
480/70/34 rear
38/70/24 front
We didn’t spec tyre brand as that’s all extras so you could just leave it to the factory for what they had in stock and take a chance, so you could either get a cheaper brand or a top end brand
I think we did ok.

Good old 16.9... or metric equivelent, again for the maize rows but also because the bigger we go with tyres the more we run over when pasture topping, rowing up and tedding especially, and also the more muck we bring out the fields onto the roads. For the weight of the tractor, they should be good, and we've seen more and more damage done by bigger contractor machines making bigger ruts that then need heavier cultivation or rolling to shift. We have a set of duals which I'll have to weld some brackets on for over the winter, then I'm hoping in the spring it will really float on the seedbeds.
