Up to 3.2mm generally. Never used 4mm. Im not welding day in day out just doing bits and bobs. Rarely run it for longer than 2 hours.
Only on very thin tin sheeting I used 3.2mm’s where I worked before, everything else like beet equipment and subsoiler legs etc were 4mm, a 5kg pack in an hour sometimes :/

I definetly won’t be using this welder as much, a lot of gates and hurdles need welding and the rest would be making gates etc..

galvanised bog roll thickness steel

My uncle has an old - make unidentifiable and hasn’t been used in 12 years in our shed and that’s on a yellow 110 type plug so i’d Assumed that it couldn’t run on 13amp if it’s on those plugs and it’s definetly not an inverter welder.

@Warp Land Farmer thats what I’m looking at but hadn’t seen the offer when I posted earlier...

Are the standard electrode holders any good? I’ve only ever used the twist head types.
110v will give you about 2 thirds the power 240v will
look on youtube with the yanks and dual voltage welders

keep it 240 and either run your welder off a 16amp(up to 200a welder) or 32amp

But on a 13amp 3pin I can run it anywhere straight away? I’ll have a word with the electrician to see what we can take plug power wise.

Mig out in the yard! Wind doesnt blow where you live then. Mig is for indoor factory work, Stick for outside repairs and fabrication. Also, mig in unskilled hands is very dangerous, so easy to have a good looking weld, which is just stuck on top! With a stick plant, a poor weld looks poor!
Not necessarily, I've seen quite a few stick welds that look good & have passed inspection only to fail due to poor fusion/penetration, admittedly mig is more prone to it.
