On the North now, heading south in 2 days time. Flying out of Christchurch on the 15th Nov. We are just doing the tourist routes. I'm trying to take the advice of an old German guy that stayed with us a while back. He said its not about seeing everything its about seeing everything well, that's always stuck with me.

Best holiday you will ever take, South Island is a picture postcard, North island is where I would choose to farm if starting all over again, enjoy I’m very envious! ;)

Sister in law had a place in Omrarma in the South Island which is a lovely part, if you go to Queenstown & Wanika have a look in the Wanika cinema as when we were there typical New Zealanders had a Volkswagen Beatle convertible in the middle of the cinema seats for you to sit in, drove to Shania Twains ranch left hand side of the lake which was also fascinating, think she may have now sold it.
Brother in law had a polo stud near North Palmerston on the North Island, a mate of his took me around his farm, 30,000 head of sheep & 1200 head of cattle, no indoor housing for anything, a lot of the land consisted of old sand dunes with about 6 inches of top soil that they had to be very careful not to breakthrough into.
Have fun!

My lad is there just now, north of Christchurch at Rangiora. He’s working for Allan Chapman Agri.

He is absolutely loving the whole experience. The work is right up his street with big shiny kit and on his days off he’s driving out for sightseeing in a little car he’s bought.

He drove 74 km one day on the tractor and saw 7-8 vehicles all the way. He can’t believe the roads are better than ours with a fraction of the traffic. Here in central Warwickshire you can wait for 74 cars before you get out of our driveway!

He’s loving the scenery and the people, the whole lot of it.

My sister lived in Rangiora for a while, had a great time visiting her there. Has he got involved with young farmers? They have an active club there.

My son is in Wanaka, just arrived for his 5th season with Wanaka Ag, he loves it there, but says it is a bit chilly at the moment, I didn't have much sympathy with him!

We’re just on the way to the UK for a week, pity we’re not home you could have called in. Enjoy your trip.
