I had a quick look and see that Ernest doe are available to select as a dealer but it’s not the dealer nearest to me. Not sure how it works but I don’t want parts delivered 100 miles away when I’ve got the same firm 10 minutes away.

I have a Kramp account through my local dealer.
I have a full login to the Kramp website, can order anything I want off it, can see the full price and see the discount I get, and it's delivered direct by courier van.
However it is all billed through the local dealer, which is no bother as if you time it right it's longer credit than a card.
The parts manger in the dealer sets the discount you get on the website, and if you want more take it up with him.
Dealer I assume gets a small cut for doing the paperwork.
Works well, Kramp stock a ridiculous amount of stuff, including genuine parts for a lot of brands, saves a a trip to dealer parts store, you can order stuff in the middle of the night if you want!! I find that the price I'm paying is the slightly less than I see stuff in another dealer store.
It's a useful option, and dead handy if you want to find out the price of something.

Might see if I can get a (decently discounted Kramp account) setup as an added sweetener on the next equipment deal I do with Doe’s.

That reminds me they’ve got a show coming up in a few weeks

Do you have to select the dealer yourself? How do you know who are good discount and who aren't?

Our local NH dealer was promoting it hard a while back. Apparently any dealer can give you a customer account but only one or two do promote it. I actually know the area manager for Kramp and he was pushing it on the dealer stand at the local show, not that was the decider.
Sometimes get a small promo gift with the order too, best so far being a good little 1/4 drive socket set

Do you know the level of discount though? It's hard to know if it's a good deal or not if you don't know the discount available/applied.

I’ve got an account with a local dealer, works well, order before 3pm and if it’s in stock (it’ll say on order page) it’ll be with you next day, can be sent to your dealer too but why would you do that (n) I think it’s £4.50 for postage whatever you buy, as said above they have millions of parts, can be quite hard to pick though to be fair, if you don’t know what you’re after, but some have parts diagrams etc. I get lots of filters with them now as they haven’t been beaten of price yet but I’m probably getting lazy and just using them now. Had some decent promotions from them too, kegs of beer etc:D

Personally I think that these company's need to move with the times and just sell direct to the end user. Internet , and instant payments have done away with the problems of collecting money. They allready have the infrastucture to parcel up and get things delivered to any location. Wonder which of the bigger part retailers will start selling discounted to the end user rather than continuing to line the pockets of dealers.

@Clive - a while ago you mentioned a tie up between FMP and (I thought it was) Kramp. What came of those discussions, if I may be so bold?
