Why are they so relativly low? Surely they should be indexed linked ?
Ours are approx. the same amount as they were about 30 yrs ago , iirc without checking old paperwork .
They definitely havnt kept pace with modern Electric costs, Surely the actual Electric sellers should contribute ?

Paid by Cheque as well, the only one I get not electronically these days which is apart from old fashioned and inefficient , well a bit ironic I guess.
Just a bit puzzled by it tbh.

Because they are agreed for us by those masters of negotiation, the NFU. Who exactly gave the NFU the right to negotiate on my behalf I don't know, I've never been a member. I wonder if its possible to approach the grid company and demand they negotiate with you direct, as you are not an NFU member and any agreement reached with the NFU does not apply to you?

Yet another on the list of potential jobs for the comparatively meagre resourced BFU it seems .

I suspect it is a bit like the phone mast situation where it's deemed to be essential service so has to be very low, probably a donation to the government of the day helps to keep it low. Last one I had the other day from NG did say they will pay by Bacs if you give them the details.

Well worth checking you are on the right level of payment as there different rates for poles / pylons/ supports in grazing land arable etc.
also well worth checking that you are receiving the correct number. Bought a farm few years ago half the payments were going to the old owner for several years.

Bacs? Wow. Northern power grid wayleaves are the only cheque I get every year. Hope they get on to Bacs soon .

I sold some land 3 years ago, I've spoken to the NG wayleave dept multiple times about getting the poles transferred to the new owner and nothing has ever been done. I've given up now, the cheques keep coming and I bin them. Just another bunch of chancers who are 'working from home' and doing SFA.

There's a pylon below us and the old owner took the lump sum before he advertised the farm.

Im fairly certain that that is all in oreder ,infact the only reason i can see that the amount is up a bit in the last few years is because they have added a pole and other infrastructure .

get your land agent to go over your poles and stays , double poles etc , if you have a pole near one of your houses feeding a third party you are due compensation for the lose of value to your house , if you want to sell your wayleave they pay 20 years in front for a deal
