Nh 7740 door glass replacement

Bad day; broke both the back window and right hand door; zero grazing a field which was cut for whole crop.

Our 7740 is 1995; so has a door frame; I have Wurth bonding.

Local dealer said to paint the glass before I use the bonding?

Paint shop says paint won’t stick to glass.

Anyone able to shed some light or offer advice.

Was he refereing to the black primer thing to paint on that comes with bonding kits?

Tractor dealer supplying the glass recommended any black paint; but paint shop said I’d need a primer paint.
When I put a window into a previous tractor I was told just to use the bonding agent.

Did one on my 1995 7840 earlier in the year, just bought the bonding from the dealer, cleaned the frame back and glued it straight in. Never heard of painting the glass?? Had a genuine glass and that already had a black coating around where the sealer went.

Put the tube of sealer in a bucket of hot water first too, makes it easier to apply. Gave it a good bead all the way around and then extra along the top and bottom (especially here as its a water trap and rots the frame) and in the corners. Then just give it 24 hours before you refit the door.

Done quite a few over the years (not all my own lol) and never painted one.

Thanks Ste, will try your method. I heard the professionals use a heat gun to apply the bond, so your hot water method will be useful. I remember on my last fitting getting the bead even was near impossible!

Just to butt in
If i recall right mate had back window on a reno to do .
Prob bolted in tbf , while ago
Dealer charged about £50 to fit onsite, money well spent.
If dealer broke it there look out.
