The uj in the propshaft has gone and wondered how the easiest way to remove it is. Dealer says front axle needs to come off but seems a lot of work has anyone removed it rearward before or any info of how to do it. Tia

I done my maxxum last year or the year before. Axle off is not a big job. Suspension ram pin out,Axle pivot pin out, disconect steering and difflock pipes, disconnect did mention high potentiometer arm. Then undo the four bolts at on the axle support under the bell housing and it's free to move forward.

We supported the tractor under the weight tomb stone and used a trolley jack under the front axle diff housing and put wooded wedges inbetween the stops to stop the axle rotating. The axle has to come forward to get the prop out of the splined coupling where the shaft comes out of the gearbox.

Assuming it’s similar to puma 155, then you need to drop the big casting below the shaft and to do that I think the axle has to move.

Did one several years ago and from my sketchy memory we wasted a lot of time trying to find a short cut and in the end got someone out to help us, and I’m pretty sure it involved dropping the axle. It looks like there should be another way, but you’ll end up slackening a lot of stuff only to find you need another inch of clearance to get the shaft off.

Support front of tractor knock 4wd coupling back undo the large bolts that hold axle pivot to tractor put Jack under front of axle. To pivot it back. Cut rear uj on prop with angle grinder then shaft comes out you just have to fit new UK with shaft in tractor it's a bit fiddly but saves a lot of time you can do centre support bearings for 4wd like this too

They sell the 'original parts' and 'uprated parts'. If this isn't an admission that they've completely under specced the design then I don't know what is, but don't expect NH to show any mercy with the replacement parts as they charge an extortionate amount for the bits to fix their design cock up. Been there, not impressed.

Ours went at 1800 hours while ploughing, I suspect it had something to do with the 'Auto 4WD' engaging while turning on the headland (T6080).
