NH TM155 cooling issue

i think the viscous coupling for the fan has seized as it currently sounds like an Aeroplane taking off and won’t get warm on the gauge.

Mine has the electric gubbins in front of the fan does anyone know if they cost a fortune to replace and would a standard viscous coupling off an older TM be cheaper an do the same job effectively without making a constant racket wen working hard?

We had one do the same, I did price up a new vistronic coupling (can't remember how much it was now) but being a yorkshire man I ended up getting a standard fan and viscous coupling. Fixed the problem. I believe @Ray may have more technical knowledge.

Gonna pop bonnets on both TMs in a minute to see if the resistance is the same but know the 155 used to kick in/out as needed and now just runs all the time making a racket

Any problem with the wiring and it will default to flat out, they are knows for rubbing through so check that first.

We've had a few fail in the past and changed one tractor to a standard fan however it ended up using more fuel than the electric one, Atkinson had some cracking deals on electric ones at the time so we ended up going back to standard.

So if you supply power independent of the "system" it will never come on?

We've converted a few from electric to the older 135 / 150 thermostatic type and they've worked fine and cost less to replace. You need to also fit a different fan with 5 blades. However, I had one fail last week where the electric fan didn't turn at all and as we were busy we just fitted a new electric viscous unit and away it went.
