If I am on the forum and want to go back from a thread to the main page for example the backspace doesn't work however if I am typing say a reply the backspace dies work. This applies to other apps as wel so not a tff fault. Hope that makes myproblem clear. Thanks.Sorry, bit confused by 'only when I'm typing' - when else would you use it?
Firstly, have you rebooted the PC?
Is there some grit stuck under the key perhaps? Maybe try the airline to blow they keyboard clean?
Or is it a software issue? Maybe go in device manager and remove the keyboard, then restart and see?

To prevent user data loss when filling out forms, we’ve disabled the Backspace key as a navigation shortcut for the back navigation button. To re-enable the Backspace keyboard shortcut, you can change the about:config preference browser.backspace_action to 0.Firefox 87.0, See All New Features, Updates and Fixes
