What a well written article by Norman Bagley,Head of policy at the Association of independent Meat Suppliers.I wholeheartedly endorse every word he's said and think now is the time for change. We need a new assurance policy that that is accepted throughout the World and all religions.I think every livestock farmer should and must read this article.

Now we need someone to start the ball rolling.

TBH, I don't want any farm assurance. But we can't roll back the clock. Might as well stick with what we've got IMO, sh!te that it is. A new assurance scheme will have to differentiate itself from the old one...........which will mean new rules for us mugs.

Yes you can bet there will not be less hoops to jump through. 99% of us would produce the same quality of product regardless of assurance so why not just trust us to do it. Assurance just creates jobs and costs farmers money for no gain, trading standards and EA with teeth is all we need to keep the 1% in order.
