Northern Ireland Milk Price Tracker

I can.

I'd probably need to see it again in black and white to be really specific.

The gist is a 3ppl bonus on all litres above base year litres for three years. Base litres being 0 in year one for a new entrant of course. Base reset at beginning of each new year. An introductory rate on transport. Share buy-in over five years to be a full owner member. As per usual, DF doesn't do secret back room deals. The scheme will be upfront on the table, beginning Jan '18.

Memory is struggling with other details at this time of night. I'm sure it will be padded out at the fair! The scheme has already been discreetly floated with prospective new entrants and got a good response.
Who sponsoring the scheme...dale farm??

Question for the robot farmers. I was told the other day by a farmer with four robots, that a well fed cow on three times a day milking will milk better than a similar well managed cow milked by a robot.Who's right

We've milked three times a day for ten years now, 305 herd average 11,426, men in milking every evening, good men at that, one is in charge of the rest, both recruiting others and covering holiday leave as well as milking, once the cows are milked, they're milked, peace of mind, I can expand another 50 cows in the morning if I want and don't have to invest another heap of money into the parlour. 3x/day would be my preference.

Not sure of the answer, I'd say if you were on 3x milking you wouldn't see any rise in yield by moving to robots. We went from 7500l in parlour 2x to just under 10000 with robot. Our average milking/cow is 3.1 so not all our cows are being milked 3x, someone milking all cows 3x in a parlour would have more milk?

Well the dutch have been at the robot game for as long as any country, yet still the highest yielding herd in Holland is still milked 3x day in a parlour, does that answer your question?

It's profitable cows we need and that doesn't necessarily mean the highest yielding.

I agree, we feed 3.1 ton/head, not necessarily wanting to see that drop but if we could keep it there it'd be ok. If they're not leaving money behind them it's only a waste of time and energy. Everyone on here plenty of fodder for the winter?
