Wasn't so long ago that United was of Z's thinking that bonuses were fog, and they didn't do them. First came red tractor bonus which was easy to understand, but now they have a new chief executive there is no stopping them... They have more bonuses than anyone else, at least three!

Their CEO is still on his honeymoon period, and let's remember it's not hard for him to look like he's doing a good job when he starts at a time when milk price is rising out of the gutter.

No point seeming surprised at that, united have been a secret organisation from their suppliers for twenty years now.

That view is way out of date I'm afraid. The connection between Dale Farm Co-op and it's suppliers has altered noticeably in more recent years. We had roughly half the total membership attending a series of meetings around Northern Ireland in September, followed by at least a quarter at the AGM in November, followed by another 25% increase in visitor flow through the stand at the Winter Fair in December. We've got a bit of a problem with our stand. Despite being of more generous proportions than any other stand I could see at the fair, it was still ridiculously tight for most of the day. There's supposed to be an isle between the two halves of the stand, but it was blocked solid from one end to the other. Good to see the membership interested and engaging with the board and the staff on all those occasions. That's not to mention the 100 elected members that meet with board and staff in their own areas an additional four times a year to discuss issues that members have, and developments on their side. So the secret organisation thing is very last decade.

How many times a year do you guys in other co-ops talk to your board and senior executive team? I gather that the turnout at the Lacpatrick AGM was a paltry 77. Not much enthusiasm there. What about other AGM's?

The aisle was blocked by people enjoying free tea and scones!

If our leaders are so in touch with us mere subjects, why does the IFJ know our milk price before I do?

I wouldn't judge a good turnout to an AGM as a sign of happy people. [emoji52]
