I am struggling to work out whether this action can now be moved during a new 3 year SFI agreement.

I have an existing agreement in place where it is rotational if I wish, but it seems the goalposts have been moved for new agreements?

Rotational or static action

If you’re establishing a new legume fallow to meet this action, the action is static. This means you must do it at the same location each year of this action’s duration.

If you’re maintaining an existing legume fallow, this action is rotational or static. This means you can either:

  • move its location for the second year of this action’s duration (and third year, depending on the timing of this action’s start date) and re-sow the mix
  • do it at the same location each year of this action’s duration

Think new agreements for 2024 scheme rules (1st August on????) will be static on new rules, current agreements and any before this will be 2023 rules??? Not sure about 1st July start date, but would think still on old 2023 rules?

I’d say by reading it that if you go into it as of now it has to stay in the same field for the 3 years. Only previous agreements num 3 is rotational
I have an offer applied for the day after the new rules were announced, on the 2023 rules. Not certain if I cancelled it and applied in June which way it would go.

I’ve not read the new terms as I have a start date in Jan this year so I’m rotational. There must be an official start date for the new terms.

Not that I have seen, so unsure. The new 2024 stuff is supposed to start getting rolled out next month by invitation after an expression of interest, so I assume the new rules will be in that, and maybe applications might be available through June on the old scheme rules, but I am only guessing.

It’s gonna be a bit of an arse if you’ve got more than one agreement with NUM3 on each with different rules.

I was going to apply for another agreement with NUM3 on again, but instead will increase the area on my old agreement.

It will turn into a shambles, I can see.

Will you be able to have a new agreement with an option you already have on an existing one??? Can you add land to an existing agreement on the old rules?

Can you increase the area on existing agreement? I only know you can reduce by 50%

NUM3 is an SFI23 action under current rules and can be rotated.

When SFI24 launches the new action will be called CNUM3. CNUM3 is not rotational.
CNUM3 will be identical to a 3yr Organic Fertility building part of a farm rotation except more prescriptive in SFI 24.. In SFI 23 it was like a bad 1yr version of AB15 in CS. The profit on either will be 50% of the old AB15 without BPS...

Much the same as many other agricultural activities, in fact quite a number look likely to become loss making.
