Has as said above you have to have a minimum of 50 of what you have in year 1 ie if you have 100 acres then you always have to have 50 acres. No limit on increased area in year 2 I don’t think?

For clarification are you allowed to reduce by 50% each year of the 3 year agreemrent i.e 100 ac yr 1 50 acre yr2 and finally 25ac in yr 3 and then if the scheme is still going reduce to nil .

That’s not how I think it works I’ve been told you you always need a minimum of 50% of year 1 area in the ground in years 2 and 3.

No. Minimum of 50% of the Year 1 amount in Years 2 & 3. As a Three year agreement that would be the end. Then a New Agreement starting again, assuming SFI continues beyond the initial three years.

so next question ,can you add num 3 on any amount of acres in year 2 or 3 of your agreement with the same end date as started with?

Yes. Can increase in Years 2 and / or 3, but must always have minimum 50% of Year 1.

So one can increase or decrease in Year 2, or leave same. And then in Year 3 Leave same, increase or decrease, providing is minimum 50% of Year 1.

Yes if you have 100 acres in year one you could have 300acre in year 2 if desired
As I read your reply if I dont have any num 3 in year 1 i cant add it in years2 or 3 and still have the same end date i.e 3 yrs from start and yet defra are saying you can alter /add new things on the anniversary or just before .
I realise im maybe coming across as a bit pedantic on this but im only trying to work out whats possible and what opportunitys there are to alter/fine tune an agreement within the initial 3 years and end after the initial 3 yrs as I do not want at my age to commit my followers/farm partnership any longer than 3 years at my age. iyswim

Yep, increases have no limit.
I sacrificed half a hectare into ahl1 for the first year, as ahl1 will form a big part of the plan in years 2 and 3.
The altering on the anniversary hasn't really been layed out by rpa, so didn't want to be caught high and dry if they decide on a different way

I’m sure you can add anything to the agreement in year 2 sorry I misunderstood your question.

No! Year 2 and 3 must both be at least 50% of the area entered in the first year.

"a lower area, as long as it’s at least 50% of the area you entered into the action for the first year of your agreement – for example, if you enter 10ha into a rotational action for the first year, you can decrease that area to 5ha for the second year and then either keep it as 5ha for the third year or increase it again."
