It was great to welcome Emirates yesterday! This 777 took tonnes of South Island chilled meat to 15 cities across the globe. It’s the first of a series of flights taking high-value export cargo from our place to plates in London, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Bahrain and Johannesburg, to name a few.

A publicity stunt for the airport in tough times? It doesn't make much sense to me. It says 'high value' meats but we're told there's no demand for expensive cuts due to the lockdown. Also it says "This 777 took tonnes of South Island chilled meat to 15 cities across the globe." How much can a plane carry and how can it possibly be worth making 15 different drop offs all over the globe?
