It does amaze me the folk i see locally slaving away day and night doing work the ewes are meant to do ---why keep sheep when sheep can keep you?

Right on the money Tim, that’s my philosophy as well. I think this year was exceptional though. Even lads with easier kept sheep have been struggling with issues caused by the weather and all the knock on effects.

Edit
Personally, it’s only about 3 yrs since I seen the light and have been trying to convert to ewes that look after thenselves. Biggest problem I have is how slow a process it is to find what your looking for, wind out the rubbish and get enough replacements in to get where you want. A slow process that takes years unfortunately.

how many are u lambing and roughly how many per day? the most ive had is 17 in one day
1300 and rising!
Had a nice day of 72, followed by a few high 60’s then been down to a consistent 30-40 a day for a few weeks now which is annoying as we’d rather more days of 60’s while we’d staffed for it, this did mean we could muck out more often and trim backsides on all the ewes sooner while we had the staff so save doing the backsides now..

Lamb tired in a nutshell.

Hope you were ok! I’ve had it happen a few times carting silage and luckily woken half way up a hedge (n)

Truck is an auto, so my foot came off and I just coasted into the hedge, better that way than across the road.

Will be very glad to see the back of the indoor lambers and the sh!t weather for the outdoor lot, then it should be back to relatively plain sailing.
