Oil change intervals for engine with 8000hrs/fuel additives.

The MF 6290 i have recently bought has done 8000+hrs. Is it worth changing the oil at less hrs than specified in the operators manual at those sort of hours,as I say oil is cheaper than metal.
Also do any of you use fuel additives in high houred engines to supposedly clean the fuel system i.e injectors, fuel pump etc? Thankyou.

This is just my way of thinking but
The hy houred engine will be more loose ( less tight in bearings etc) so oil will flow throo quicker
But i would just change it then have a good look at first change to see if it is real black looking but as you mentioned there is nothing stoping you shortening the service intervals?
Regards fuel i am a stickler for putting in say around 200-250 ml of engine oil in every fuel tank fill up as i was fed up replacing fuel injector pumps on older machines and since adding oil have never had one to replace because modern fuel cleans and strips all fuel lines out and then the pump etc sees up or just wheer out
My NH8160 started to loose power the fuel pump was pumping but slowly so i removed it and ran engine oil thro it its been fine for over 500hrs now ?

Change the oil regular and use a good quality engine oil.
Those Perkins do use a little bit of oil too.
