Ok what next?

As title can't get the nut off the angle grinder, tried the chisel etc. not enough room for a spanner down the back what else can I try?

Grind your spanner thinner then stick the ‘nut’ in a vice

Two things that I’ve done successfully when this happens.
Firstly try gripping the nut in a vice, press in the locking button and try turning.
If that doesn’t work, grind a spanner down so that it is thin enough to fit the nut at the back.

I've had similar.

Got a spanner the right size that was an old one and ground it thin enough to fit in....(the irony is you probably need to use the grinder you can't get the disc off )

Give the nut a quick heat with oxy torch come off no bother then but cool it quick so not to hurt the bearings in gearbox. Maybe sounds extreme but better than knocking it about with hammers and punches etc

Done that several times with 9" Hitachi, doesnt seem to bother it at all

Thanks for that looking more like it now, just had a job lined up for today and finding a replacement on a bank holiday lockdown Sunday might not be easy!

WD40 , Get someone to hold the button in and get the stilsons with teeth on and tap to snap the seal

Oh its such a complete barstewart when grinders do this ??

I usually resolve it with use of a lump hammer

I find if u use a punch or chisel with locking pin engaged it usually breaks a tooth of does damage somewhere

The odd time it’s h as happened to mine I’ve been able to shift it with a spanner on the shaft and a good set of pump pliers on the collar, did mess one up trying to use the button to hold it.

You have maybe broken the woodruff key on the drive shaft, still fixable, find/grind/file a spanner to fit and remove the nut then strip the gearbox off and make a new key from a bit of round bar.

Above all, don't forget to lose the modified, ground down spanner so that next time that you need one you can't find it.
