Lock button worked fine so tried above, now button stuck in and something slipping internally, not looking good! Two things that I’ve done successfully when this happens.
Firstly try gripping the nut in a vice, press in the locking button and try turning.
If that doesn’t work, grind a spanner down so that it is thin enough to fit the nut at the back.
Done that several times with 9" Hitachi, doesnt seem to bother it at allGive the nut a quick heat with oxy torch come off no bother then but cool it quick so not to hurt the bearings in gearbox. Maybe sounds extreme but better than knocking it about with hammers and punches etc
Thanks for that looking more like it now, just had a job lined up for today and finding a replacement on a bank holiday lockdown Sunday might not be easy!Throw it in the scrap, buy another one
It was this post that prompted the scrap suggestionLock button worked fine so tried above, now button stuck in and something slipping internally, not looking good!
What size spanner do I need to doctor? Looks like it could be 17mm.
You have maybe broken the woodruff key on the drive shaft, still fixable, find/grind/file a spanner to fit and remove the nut then strip the gearbox off and make a new key from a bit of round bar.Lock button worked fine so tried above, now button stuck in and something slipping internally, not looking good!
