Old coal mines can be 'perfect' underground food farms

Don't know about mines but tunnels are good for mushrooms. Around here was Wrington Vale Nurseries (Mushroom Farm) at Harpur Hill, Buxton. The tunnels at Harpur Hill were first made in 1938 by the Air Ministry to store bombs during World War II. They were purchased in 1964 to be converted to use as a mushroom farm by Wrington Vale Nurseries. There are 11 tunnels. Mushrooms were sent out all over the country, mainly by rail.
