old cubicle revamp

Hi, we have a cubicle house from the 70's which is no longer any real use, as the cubicle spaces are too short (smaller cows then), with no 'lunge' room. I'm considering cutting out the old cubicles and fitting replacements, but at a 45degree angle, to give a longer length to the cubicle space.. we'll end up with a few less spaces but thats ok...we're constrained by passage width and cash :). The cubicles are used only occasionally for suckler cows.
Would appreciate any thoughts before proceeding, ta

I read somewhere that someone did as you are thinking and put the cubicles in diagonaly. In theory it was a good idea, but i think the practice it was an absoloute nightmare with the cows sh1tting on the beds and would take an age to go round scraping the sh1t off the back of nearly every bed, im sure he ripped them out citing his worst idea ever
Here i've only got 7' bed lengths and had newton rig cubicles, couldn't make the beds any longer. I put in wilson C50 cubicles, and now the cows can lunge sideways as they get up, not a set up you would do going from new, but works well.
Only downside sometimes when Ai ing small cows or heifers they will escape through the cubicle .

We have done similar. 2.1metre beds with old newton rigg cubicles that were getting to the end of the their life. No option to make them longer. Settled on teemore super loop + cubicles (cantilever style as above) and added mats as well. Combination of the two and the cows are extremely happy. Can now go into cubicle sheds at night and not uncommon to see all the cows lying in a cubicle and not one lying out in the sh!t or just standing up on the cubicle.

Hi thanks for reply....did you go for angled arrangement? What length are your cubicoe beds?

Not angled. You can't do that with cantilever cubicles. As mentioned by @happyhillbilly they can lunge into the next cubicle when getting up/down so helps with the lack of length of bed. You can also make the cubicle wider with cantilever style cubicles. Ours are all 1150 mm wide, same as the easyfix mats we fitted.
