Omnistar snap in

I currently have auto steer on mf 7726 running on egnos. The tractor will be drilling this year so would like to upgrade to omnistar?
Don't really need rtk.
Can this be done? Do people ever sell second hand snap in receivers as I believe that's what I need?

Can this be done? Yes you can certainly buy a snap in IMU from your local AGCO dealer. The cost (of the equivalent Fendt snap-in IMU sold in the same dealers) is or was (3 years ago) around £2,100. I'd expect the AutoGuide version to be about the same, probably more now as everything's gone up.

Does anyone sell them? I have never seen a snap-in module being offered for sale separately. I have seen however seen entire used receivers advertised in the precision Ag gear section of Agriaffaires, typically by dealers on the continent - although these receivers are typically either in VarioGuide (white) or Topcon AGI-4 (grey) guise. There don't appear to be as many in MF AutoGuide guise...

You've got your Omnistar sub to add on top, which ain't cheap for what you get. I'm not a fan let's say. Rather spend a bit more and get the real deal.

When you say spend more do you mean rtk?

Yes. In my view the costs of an annual Omnistar sub is out of all proportion to its benefits.

It cheaper now to buy annual RTK sub vs an Omnistar sub, so you may as well spend a bit more in the short term but save a lot more long term and get the added accuracy and repeatability of RTK. All in my opinion, and every situation is different, but explore this as a costed option.
