Once a day milking

To be oad successfully you need a few things, and big rents/borrowed money isn't one of them. All paid labour is also going to be difficult. A decent salary to attract them, but reality is the afternoon milking is mostly paid for.
Not totally true, we carry a fair dollop of debt, a dissolving a partnership and with siblings to pay out needed borrowings.
Cost control and only investing in areas of high return is what makes any business successful no matter what industry you are in.

Start calving mid March, so start drying off mid Jan
11L 9.7 solids
SCC 180-200
If we go oad I worry that the scc spike might not have settled on some cows before they are dried off properly
Thoughts please

10 day spike then levels out , our scc is too high for OAD once again, seem all the low ones have jumped 150 scc and higher ones are stable, even after culling hard this year🤔

I've just had a quick look at our last three January's and the scc has averaged 230, 280 and last year was 350. We weren't recording and drying off high scc cows in any of those years so I'm hoping this year will be back nearer 200. Even at 350 last year I got 44ppl but we're probably only doing 8l/cow.

As a true family unit with only you and Mrs Jim milking I think you definitely need to be OAD by Christmas just to give yourself a break.
