LOOKS LIKE IT ON A silage pit ops caps, pob with huge compactor and and slack in the sway arms, dont take much to snap if it flies over from one side to other and bangs, plus it looks largely a clean snap.

i was told by dealer a potential bearing issue may arise if you let brakes fail causing contamination,

looks like you clearly have carful operators so im sure you never even needed any brake replacements :p

Largely myself and my dad so yes, fairly gentle on stuff but it works hard when it needs too.

Tractors can sit idle from one week to next then do 70 hours a week in summer time.

Replaced the brakes in a 3120 at 7k hours. Just done another set in a 3085 at 7.7k couple of months ago.

we have opertor's not seat warmers like you, have you ever used a compactor with no side ways movement on the arms

Good for you.

It's obvious it's not just the weight of the machine that caused that, it's the leverage causing massive forces to tear the casting up.

No, I have never used a compactor but I've also been around long enough to see when tractors are smashed like that irrespective of make it's rarely the construction of the tractor at fault.

If I was staring at the rear of a smashed up JD or NH in the same state I'd be asking questions about the work it had been doing and how it was put to that work.

The man does do a lot of Road miles you do realize that ? i dont thats why ive never touched rear trumpets on any tractor here in 30 years apart from the PIG i bought, long gone now.

My 7480 did huge road miles. MF used it in a case study to show what was possible after a customer was wrecking brakes in under 100hrs. It had about 8500hrs on at the time. They were 90%+ so we left them in. It left here on 12600hrs, c/w the original brakes.
Hell we get 9000hrs out of telehandler brakes, what does speedy do? Go flat out everywhere & stand on the anchors? Not bother servicing his trailers?

haha the man rebuilds trailers in his sleep. heck he had several page spread in FW a few years ago so id say he knows plenty about brakes.
What he hasnt had is Vario Trans anything until about 5/6year ago he can advise us on that. all his masseys been GIMA trans until the recent 7480 i know he got.
you probs get even longer out of Merlo Brakes if it wasnt for the fact the calipers stick slightly from very little use.
i do like the hydro on the merlo i must say.

We made that mistake on a 6290, big heavy combi, too much slack in the stabilisers, bit careless, BANG, hole in the axle and stabiliser bracket ripped out. Operator error. It happens.

come on spud , you know all our trailers are on commercial axles with air brakes & are very well maintained , but you all know better so what is the point , this is a forum were every one can have there say & points of view , why do you think MF have used a better back end in there new tractors , because they are trying there best to make the tractors better which is a good thing

look at the bolts on a JD , NH , Case or the rest only 8.8 holding them on so they break first Mf ones are 12.9 that could be part of it
