eer the current laws are ineffective and often unworkable , hence this opportunity , do nothing and you deserve everything you get.

What you mean like the laws on theft and handling stolen goods, which the police refuse to enforce on pikeys? You discover your stolen trailer is located on a pikey encampment and inform the police and see how much they want to know about recovering it. The police don't enforce the general laws of the land on pikeys, look how they behaved in that case of the Thwaites brewery break in a few years back, or that time a whole load pikeys descended on a town in Norfolk (I think, was it Cromer?) and the police had to lock the whole town down. No one was arrested though, of course. The police let them do as they like because they know any attempt to police them will meet with violence, so they take the easy route, until something happens like the PC Harper case, then suddenly there's enough police to go in mob handed.

If the police won't enforce the general law as above, whats the point of giving them more new powers to move them on?
