Opened the door and they all came in will let them run in and out for a while feeding them outside so it's easier to feed them in the shed

You can feel that 'autumn chill' coming on here, as the day starts to go now.

They look in good nick - be a shame to let 'em slip back by laying cold at night if you've plenty of straw.

Just because you have the straw, don’t waste it! It’s a valuable asset and should be treated accordingly. Unless you’re in a part of the country where it’s cheap as chips of course.

But seriously, business sense would be to realise the value by selling it, if it’s not needed - what would the neighbours give you for it ?

Plenty straw here an I would rather turn it into dung than sell it. Any surplus goes under neighbour's cattle and then comes back here.

Id give him £5 a bale

That’s what I paid for the rounds I bought, but I keep reading on here that’s it’s like hens’ teeth in some parts of the country.

Point is that just because we’re looking at something that cost us nowt, doesn’t mean that’s its value and we should waste it.
