Got one of these with the Salter spring weigh head ( the type where you "flick" a lever to transfer the weight of the lamb to the weigher to get a reading). has anyone bought a cheap "Crane" digital weigh head from the likes of Amazon and done a successful conversion job?. My crate is in good order but I get sick of the swinging needle!!

I used the same type of crate scale that @ Bowland Bob uses as above for years on my crate. In my opinion it is a worthwhile investment. I have had it for 10 years. I change the two AA batteries once per year. Compare to my NST certified scale, the crane scale is about 1/4 lb. off on the low side. It beats the heck out of the original spring loaded dial head.
