Anyone going?

Will it be any good?

I was a bit undecided about going this year as I suffered from a few too many whingers last year---in the end I decided to give it another go as I have enjoyed and got something from it previously (might just be a bit short tempered with the whingers this year ;) )

I'm going. Never been before but I like the sound of many of the speakers.

A lot of the ideas to be discussed are music to my ears so it will be interesting to see if there are people making a success of farming in a different way, and not just talking about it.

What was everyone whinging about?

I've never been before, but the programme does look great - especially two of the sessions in particular.

I'm also curious what the whinging was about?

The whinging was from wanna-be farmers that I met throughout the conference last year. They all seemed to think that everything was stacked against them and that they should all be given access to land, have a market created for them and given loans to start their businesses----but few of them had done much work on farms, no one had a provisional budget/plan to show me , no one had knocked on doors or approached landowners to try and rent land etc etc

Plenty of good stuff going on too although I must admit a lot of it does seem like going over old ground ---- seems like we were having the same conversations /debates at organic conferences 20 years ago

What did everyone think then? I thought it was a good vibe

A good conference (y) with many interesting discussions & whilst the motives/ideology of attendees may be distant from those of some at the smaller conference down the road it was good to see that there were a number of ''commercial'' ,corporate & industry professionals in attendance --- supermarket reps. NFU reps. & CLA hierarchy all spotted ---
