I didn't pre em out CC field last year, apart from one tram line. There is no difference in the weeds. £70/ha wasted.

(Also, the small areas we cultivated pre OSR have many, many times more weeds than the rest which was no-till)

I'm growing everything in one row.

Lucerne grows tall, won't it interfere with other crops ? Particularly at harvest. (I used to grow it as sheep grazing).

So no till no pre em. I will go with that.

Does anyone know the best time to take out the Vetch inter-row cropped with osr? agronomist is concerned that if I don't check it now with astrokerb then It could start to affect yield as it could be quite a monster by spring

I am curious if anyone noticed a benefit of sunflower or other companion species to counter the slugs chewing all the OSR as some speculated. Damage to our OSR is high (even total) on heavier soil.

I am curious if anyone noticed a benefit of sunflower or other companion species to counter the slugs chewing all the OSR as some speculated.

That was my idea some time ago, haven`t tried it so far but still convinced that it should work at least to some degree !! From some observation I think that emerging sunflowers are even more attractive to slugs than osr.

In my experience sunflowers are THE number 1 slug food of choice
