Overhanging tree into property

Got a house with a tenant in. He’s having issues with a tree from a neighbours that overhangs his garden and drops these horrible sticky pins everywhere. He’s approached his neighbour about cutting the overhanging branches off to no avail. Can we just do it? As it is pretty bad and he can’t use his garden really. He cleans it up and there’s just as many fallen the next day.

Entitled to cut any branches overhanging your property but you must offer the cutting back to tree owner. If he does not want them you must not throw them back onto their property.

I couldn't agree more. You can annoy your neighbour if you throw his branches back, when he has specifically stated that he doesn't want them.

Another good way of annoying him is to crap on his doorstep.

PS. I once had a self-employed shepherd, and if we were having a friendly debate (argument) he would often retort with: ''give me a pacific example''.

Thanks. Any links to the legality of doing it so I’ve got some ammo if necessary?
