I bought breeding ewe lambs at the weekend and asked the seller if he'd given them either of the above. Turns out he'd given them their first dose of Ovivac the day before.
We usually use Heptavac on all our breeding stock with the ewe lambs getting their double dose 4-6 weeks apart in the autumn and then everything getting a single jab 4-6 weeks before lambing starts.
What I'd like to know is - can I just start them on the Heptavac system right now with a double dose this autumn? There are only 25 of them and given that I never use Ovivac for anything else I'll have to buy a 100ml bottle, 50% of which will get binned as it doesn't last being opened for 4 weeks! They'll be getting moved onto Heptavac in the long run and I'd rather start now if possible.
Anyone else had this problem? They won't go to the tup till they're gimmers next year as we don't breed with any of our ewe lambs.
