Pad for silo base

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I need to move a couple of feed silos, and I'm not sure about the specs for the base. Any pointers gratefully recieved!

When we put our collision silos up they say a 200mm deep concrete slab , and no mesh as they need to drill for bolt holes

Presumably with another 200mm of decent crush underneath?

Yes that was with at 200mm compacted stone underneath

Think the collinson web site has the base specs in the pdf for each type of bin

We just put one up, they said 2 feet of concrete on a firm base, any mesh at least 6 inches below the surface. It was a big bin though, 20 tons, 45 feet high in total.

We have a 12 ton coming from collinsons next week, it had to be 3.2m square and 200mm deep, no mesh. Took about 2m of concrete

Didn’t we have a forum expert on this last time someone asked, sure they said 4 inches of home made mix laid on some cow slurry with some brocken bricks chucked in to stretch the mix will do.....

When looking at poultry sheds I saw one on its side, it’s not where I would cut corners.

My mate had one collapse, not due to the base but because a leg was also used as a fill pipe.

Dont think you need to go OTT with such a high spec job as that
